Koodaideri Innovation Technology

Koodaideri Innovation Technology

Background

Koodaideri is an innovative Australian company specialising in tooling solutions aimed at enhancing safety and efficiency for equipment and maintenance technicians working in high-risk environments, particularly in the mining sector. Their flagship product, “Safe Adjust,” is a hydraulic tuning system that allows technicians to remotely calibrate hydraulic systems on live equipment, significantly improving safety protocols and operational efficiency. Currently, assembly is performed manually in-house, with internal quality control processes. As they look to expand and improve their manufacturing capabilities, Koodaideri sought AMCN’s expertise to address multiple strategic challenges to scale production, support global expansion, and protect intellectual property while developing a digital platform.

Challenge

Koodaideri faced a multifaceted set of challenges grouped into three clusters:

Cluster 1: Implementing In-House Manufacturing Systems
The company needed to establish quality control measures suitable for scaled production across multiple locations. They also aimed to balance material costs with maintaining high product quality. They were keen to focus on in-house manufacturing capabilities to accelerate production and enable rapid design modifications.

Cluster 2: Supporting Global Expansion
While primarily focused on the Australian market, Koodaideri was preparing to enter North American and European markets. They faced logistical, compliance, and regulatory hurdles, particularly in emerging regions like Indonesia, which could impede rapid market entry.

Cluster 3: Developing a Subscription-Based Digital Platform
The company aimed to develop a digital platform using AI and big data to gather field insights, gain control over software and firmware IP, and support new business models such as subscriptions. Integrating this platform into their products was seen as critical for future growth and service differentiation.

Approach

AMCN’s support focused on crafting practical solutions aligned with Koodaideri’s strategic goals:

A primary focus was the development of a subscription-based digital platform utilising AI and big data analytics. This platform would enable remote servicing, enhance control over software and firmware IP, and generate valuable insights from field data to inform product improvements.

Guided by best practices in manufacturing, AMCN provided in-depth advice on designing lower-cost, co-branded injection-moulded housing, setting up local assembly facilities, and establishing in-house manufacturing capabilities, including 5-axis CNC milling for critical components.

We facilitated a co-design workshop using the Double Diamond approach, which enabled collaborative problem exploration and solution ideation, ensuring the strategies were practical, tailored, and aligned with market demands.

Outcome

Digital Platform Development: Koodaideri is now positioned to develop a robust AI-driven digital platform that enhances remote diagnostics, control, and updates, securing their firmware and software IP while providing a foundation for recurring revenue through subscriptions.

Manufacturing Capability Enhancement: The company is establishing local assembly facilities, adopting Design for Manufacturing principles, and developing in-house capabilities for CNC machining. These initiatives are expected to reduce costs, improve quality control, and accelerate production timelines.

Market Expansion Support: The strategic recommendations support Koodaideri’s expansion into North American and European markets, overcoming logistical and compliance hurdles with infrastructure and process improvements, and leveraging co-branding opportunities to boost brand recognition.

Global Collaboration: The project has facilitated partnerships with local OEMs and industry players, positioning Koodaideri to scale rapidly while safeguarding innovation through local manufacturing.

This strategic engagement has equipped Koodaideri to not only scale their operations more efficiently but also to position themselves with advanced digital tools and manufacturing capabilities, setting the stage for global growth and industry leadership.
